MAUNDY THURSDAY WORSHIP - APRIL 2, 2026
Join us on Thursday, April 2 for a time of worship, reflection, and Holy Communion.
Maundy Thursday is an alternate name for Holy Thursday, the first of the three days of solemn remembrance of the events leading up to and immediately following the crucifixion of Jesus. The English word "Maundy" comes from the Latin "mandatum" which means "commandment."
As recorded in John's gospel, on his last night before his betrayal and arrest, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and then gave them a new commandment to love one another as he had loved them (John 13:34). While John's gospel does not record the institution of the Lord's Supper among the events of this night, the other gospels do. (from www.umc.org)
ECUMENCIAL GOOD FRIDAY WORSHIP - APRIL 3, 2026
We will gather as a wider community at 7:00 p.m. at Central Christian Church (DOC) - 803 Greene Street - for an ecumenical Good Friday worship service, hosted by the Boone Ministerial Association.
Living into the Lenten discipline to “care for the poor,” our youth group has been inspired to lead the congregation in a clothing drive for the season of Lent. From now through Holy Week (March 30 - April 4), you are invited to donate gently used or new clothing items to the church. The Fellowship Hall stage will be sectioned-off for donations and categorized for children, women, and men. Please DO NOT DONATE clothes with stains or holes, shoes, belts, neckties, socks or undergarments. Please DO DONATE clean pants, jeans, shorts, t-shirts, button-down shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, new-in-the-unopened-package socks and undergarments.
